Couponers – Once again, pushing the envelope?

Couponers - Once again, pushing the envelope?

Couponers – Once again, pushing the envelope?

I once posted about couponers pushing the envelope in this post and it appears another coupon that came out in today’s P&G that is causing all kinds of chaos. The coupon is $5 off 2 Clairol products, while picturing hair color. Now, we all know the picture does not tell the tale of all the products you can purchase with a coupon, and usually I say abide by the wording stated on the coupon. However, the use of this coupon on Clairol Herbal Essence Shampoo does not sit well with me, since there was another coupon on the same page for that product,  for $1/2 Clairol Herbal Essence.

When asked on their Facebook page, Clairol said the coupon was not intended for Shampoo, but you can ” try” to use it. Try? No, thanks. To me, it is not worth the risk of my favorite retailer getting paid if I use this coupon.

Great deals come along all the time, and for me, I will pursue the sure things, while maintaining my couponing integrity. I am not saying if you use it, it is wrong, since you are abiding by the wording in the coupon, but me? I will sit this one out.

Update: Official response from Clairol when I asked on their Facebook page if they would pay retailers for the coupon:

Yes, since this was our mistake, we will honor those redemptions that have come through. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused, and sincerely thank you for reaching out to us with your concerns. ^Renee

I agree with you! I don’t think people should “try” to use coupons they know really aren’t for that specific item. While Clairol may be honoring this coupon, they may not print many more high value coupons for us in the future because of how many people took advantage.

I was looking for a Clariol coupon code, but the one you have listed here was not active. Is there a more current coupon available?

      Jim,

Are you looking for a Clairol coupon code, or a coupon, which was what I was referring to in the post? The last coupon for Clairol came out in the 08/18 Smart Source, $2/1 and it expires 09/30. Now, if it is a coupon code you are looking for, maybe you have a site you could recommend? ;)

Coupons… how to say… so many coupons are made just to get people in the door. My grandmother was a coupon horder… she was one of the few people I knew that ever beat the system. She would ONLY buy whenever a coupon was issued. It took so much time out of her life to find the best deals, though. I always felt like she was wasting her time :-\

Beating the system as you say,John feels so good! – I prefer to say utilizing coupons ethically to your advantage, but hey, potatoe, potato, right? ;)
