My $30 school supply challenge!

You may or may not know, but a couple years ago I participated in the Sun Sentinel School Supply Challenge. The Sun Sentinel gave us $10 and wanted to see how far we could stretch it, with all the supplies being donated to local teachers.

There were 3 of us participating and collectively we brought in over $600 in supplies, and I thought to myself well, I did it then, I can do it again.

We have 3 kids in school and as you know, school supplies can really add up. Last year, I bought everything all at once, to get it over with, and regretted it. This year, I decided to set a goal for my spending, similar to the school supply challenge. It is simple really. $30 for 3 kids. Follow me, as I strive to reach my goal, I will update the post to let you know how I am progressing. Who knows, maybe you can get some ideas for your own shopping!

$30.00 Starting Total
$6.00 Max Rewards
$4.02 Overage – Publix
$40.02 Total
$4.38 Pencils Mechanical
$0.67 2 notebooks
$34.97 New total
$8.92 Overage – Walmart
$43.89 New total
$10.00 20 folders
$8.84 Pencils bags
$0.94 Sharpies
$24.11 New total

As you can see, I have utilized overage and rewards from ink cartridges to supplement my budget. It’s a good thing, too as the girls HAD to have the fancy pencil bags 😉

I am down a little over $5, I will update the post as I make purchases. Will you join me in the school supply challenge?

I would love to gift you a backpack and a binder if that would help you out. I live in South Florida too if it is close enough for you to pick up/ write me at the e-mail I likely can find a few more things to donate.
I would Love to see you make your goal ( I spent over $130 each for the kids when they were in highschool and that was even getting some things free)

You are so kind! While your offer is much appreciated, the post is a challenge to myself and anyone else who wants to participate to actually try to purchase all the items needed for less than $30. What I would like you to do, if you really want to make a gift of the book bag, is to bring it to your closest school and I am sure they will make sure it gets to the student that needs it the most.

The world needs more people like you, thank you. It is things like this that renew my faith in humanity.
