Pay it forward Challenge!

Payit forward

Can you find a way to pay it forward?

What is paying it forward, you may ask? Simply defined, it is responding to a person’s kindness to you, by being kind to someone else. I started thinking about this, when one of the members in a group that I am in mentioned that someone paid for her groceries.

Shortly afterward I found myself in the dollar store, in front of a little old lady who was purchasing various food items. We talked as I helped her unload her cart and she smiled as she told me how good the hot dogs were.

I began to think about her circumstances. Was she managing ok? Was she stretching her social security money  by buying food at the dollar store? All kinds of thoughts ran through my mind, as I get out my wallet and paid fer her groceries with mine.

She tearfully asked me why I had done that, what did she do to deserve that. I hugged her and said “because you are you, have a nice day”

Wouldn’t the world be a better place, with some human kindness? People turning to each other, in love rather than hate? I am writing this post with one intention: that you will find a way to help someone, just as that sweet gentleman helped my blogger friend, to him I say thank you, you never know how deeply you touch someone.

Your pay it forward act does not have to involve money. Babysit for someone while they run an errand, take cookies to a neighbor. Spend some time with the elderly, Read a book to a child. Will you accept the challenge? Come back and tell me in what ways you were able to pay it forward.

That was so sweet of you. It is something that she will surely remember the rest of her life. Thank you for reminding me that little gestures go a long way in affecting others. 🙂

Thank you Nancy. I have been shown many kind gestures in my life and like to show others the same as often as I can.

I LOVE paying it forward!!! I am making it a mission to stop hunger one person at a time by teaching fellow parents how to coupon shop. I share my coupons and knowledge and they are delighted and bewildered at how we can get so much for FREE or under $5 (my budget per shopping trip using coupons). : ) In turn… I hope and pray they pay it forward by teaching their family, friends, or even a stranger!!! : )

I think that is awesome Sue! It is one thing to give but quite another to share your knowledge so someone can feed their own family for pennies on the dollar.
