Publix – Coupon policy change at my store…Yours too?

Remember when we talked about couponers pushing the envelope in this post?  Well, I went to Publix last night, and snatched up some awesome deals, including free Dial Bodywash, Yakisoba, and Sunlight dish detergent, with no problems. The grocery manager even went in the back to get a case of Yakisoba and Sunlight for me, so I wouldn’t clear the shelf. (Coupon Etiquette Rule #1)

Here is where the chicken comes home to roost, as they say. As I was putting my stuff on the conveyor belt, the cashier looked at me, with apprehension, an apology in her eyes before she spoke:

“Um, do you have any Target coupons?” She knows me so well. “If you have more than one for the same item, I can only take one now”. Really? “Yes, we are now sticking to the verbiage on the coupon, because some people took advantage”

So, even though Target takes more than one, mine does anyway, they are now setting limits. I am not complaining by any means, but this is what I meant, when I wrote the post about pushing the envelope. Policies we previously enjoyed are restricted because we have to have more. Save more. Push more. I am guilty of this too. Please break my meat packages so I can get the best bang for my coupon buck, trial sizes when it says any, etc.

Publix is very coupon friendly, so I am not complaining by any means. I just hope this is not a sign of things to come. Have you noticed your store getting stricter with coupon policies too?

So are you saying that they’re not allowing any stacked coupons, or just stacking with a competitor coupon?

They are allowing only one Target coupon per same item, previously if I had purchased 2 bodywash, for example, I could use 2 Target coupon, now they are only allowing 1 like coupon.

Okay so they’re starting to follow the writing on the coupon I guess huh? (I know most targets q’s have the one per customer rule, but I’ve rarel had issue using two). Neither of my publix’s have a target near enough to be a competitor, so I couldn’t stack like that if I wanted anyway. Boo. /comfort

Yes, and I respect this, but even Target doesn’t follow the writing on the coupon 🙂 Who do you have as competitors?

They only list Kroger. So pretty much no competitor coupons for me blah. Lol

I checked with corporate awhile back and they always encouraged stores to follow the verbiage on the coupons even with the competitor coupons. Managers allowed it, but most have cut down on this. My store has always only allowed one of the same Target coupons
