We recently learned about the Target security breach in this post but newly released numbers that are substantially higher than what was initially revealed by Target, may bring this breach to one of the largest ever security breaches of its’ kind. It is now being said that 70-110 million customers may have had their information stolen in “overlapping” breaches.
Target has stated this is not a new breach, but what is concerning about this, in my opinion, is this new information has revealed that in addition to the 40 million credit account information that was previously stolen, they may have been able to obtain information such as names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses.
Target is offering one year of free credit monitoring and identity theft protection to all guests who shopped in U.S stores, and you will have 3 months to enroll in the program.
