Winn Dixie – should I branch out?

Winn Dixie supermarket. Recently remodeled sto...

Winn Dixie shopper? – I never thought I would consider it!

I dragged Steve into Winn Dixie last night, to use the 5 coupons I had for Speed Stick deodorant, making them free. I never shop at WInn Dixie, truth to be told, I don’t even know what their coupon policy is, when their sales run, or anything about them. That is the thing about me, when I find something good, I stick with it, just ask my husband! ;)

To my dismay, the Speed Stick was cleared from the shelf, no different no matter where you shop, I guess?  My eyes lit up, when I saw Barilla on sale, BOGO free, so I decided to shop a little.

I do have a WInn Dixie card, which is required to receive discounts at Winn Dixie. I have never used it though. I picked up 4 boxes Barilla pasta, and meandered over to frozen foods. I guess meandered is the wrong word, as we had 20 minutes before they closed, with my husband good naturedly rolling his eyes.

To my delight Birds Eye was on sale. We eat ALOT of vegetables and they were also BOGO, so I picked up 12 bags. On a whim, I picked up 2 bags of pretzels, that I had no coupons for.

When all was said and done, my original total was $44.74. After coupons, and swiping my Winn Dixie card it was $14.42. If there was more time, I would have mathematically calculated it better, so I could have used my $5/30 Winn Dixie coupon.

I went to customer service to inquire about the Speed Stick, and after several employees coming over, one taking me back to the shelf, and a manger looking at my coupons, it was decided that I would be allowed to come back with 2 of my 5 coupons and use them with the raincheck, since they don’t  normally take expired coupons. I thought that was pretty nice.

So, all in all, it was a pretty good experience. No one made me feel funny for using coupons, the checkout experience was painless and I can go back and pick up 4 free deodorants! $14.42 is not bad for 12 bags of vegetables,4 boxes of pasta, and 2 bags of pretzels.

There is also one more very cool think my husband found there, that I will be sharing in a future post. It was not functioning when we saw it, and I don’t know much about it, so I will have to write more about that later.

What do you think? Should I branch out?

You should definitely branch out. WD baby club has awesome q’s every month…even for meat! They also run weekly BOGO specils on meat….awesome deals! Then you have to add in the fuel perks rewards which lets you earn cents off per gallon of gas, up to 20 gallons per fill up.
On occasion, the pharmacy has specials for new prescriptions. You can’t go wrong by branching out in Winn Dixie!★

Thanks Cheryl! I definitely will check out all Winn Dixie has to offer! What kind of meat specials are there?

If it’s not out of your way to do so, I’d certainly add it in if the sales are that good! And with the great customer service you got, that would be a big incentive to come back!

Absolutely branch out! Without competiton in the ‘market’ place, Publix would have no reason to compel us with deals to shop at their stores! I have gotten some great deals at Winn Dixie and feel like it is my best interest to save at both stores! So that would be a win-win-win?!

I agree :) I am going there tomorrow, wish me luck to get the razors they gave me a raincheck for, using my expired coupons.

I’m a firm believer of not keeping all your eggs in 1 basket. I always include W.D. in my weekly shops. Plus I can visit ny D.D. as she’s there 60plus hrs. a week. lately.

I agree :) Do you know of a good Winn Dixie blog to follow?, I tried Winn Dixie on a Dome, but it appears inactive…60 hours! Wow….
